Any 2A thoughts? A couple of weeks ago I would have said that I had a hard time seeing anybody being able to beat Ambrose after they handled Melba, but since then they have been beat by both Nampa Christian and Oakley. The WIC seems like a bloodbath this year. Ambrose, Melba, Cole Valley, and Nampa C all are solid and have the ability to beat one another, and New Plymouth is a potential spoiler. North Fremont hasn't lost since the first game of the season versus West Side, but I don't know that I would rank them ahead of Ambrose or Melba. West Side is solid, but the rest of their district seems down. St Maries will come out of the north again, and are a good team, but got beat pretty easily by Ambrose earlier in the year (it was a competitive first half, then the Archers ran away with it in the second half.) District Four is the toughest to predict, all three squads are decent and could prevail, but I don't see any of them making too much noise at state.
My personal ranking: 1 Ambrose, 2 Melba, 3 NorthFremont, 4 St Maries, 5 West Side, 6 Cole Valley, 7 Wendell, 8 Ririe 9 Nampa Christian, 10 Valley.
Cole Valley has been giving Ambrose and Melba a run for their money so far. I think that they are one to watch out for in districts/state to play a major spoiler. The Melba/Ambrose rematch will say a lot. I was at the first matchup and it was a 1 point game in the 4th until Ambrose went on a huge run. Melba had the most rim-out misses I have ever seen, that won't happen again. I thought Melba was gritty and tough, and from what I have seen, I think Melba really has a shot at it. But I have not seen NF. I saw West Side a few times at the Owyhee tournament and they held their own with some of the big boys like McCall and St Maries. They split their series with NF, but that first meeting was game 1, it is hard to really put a lot of weight on game 1. I agree with D4, that one is a toss up, they have all beaten each other, but I do not think they will make much noise either...see Wendell having two 20ish point losses to NF. I agree with your top 6, I would probably bump NC up to 7. I think that anyone of those top 6 can win it, if Cole Valley pulls an upset, which very well may happen, it may open a path for them. It will be a fun bracket! A lot will hang on where these teams finish in terms of MaxPreps rankings and what those first round games look like. I think this year we are going to get the best semi-final games we have seen in years as those ranking should help prevent a 1v2 first round game.
