I know I am stating the obvious but I find it interesting that the top 4A teams in the Eastern part of the state are now 17-1 against 5A competition with the only loss being against the current #1 5A team in the state in Lake City. The 17-1 stat line is a sum of Hillcrest, Century, Pocatello and Preston records against 5A competition this year. Those wins are against the best East ID 5A has to offer with multiple wins against Madison, Rigby and Thunder Ridge. Add Middleton, Jerome, and BK to the list of 4A teams previously mentioned and you have a very deep and talented 4A division this year. Lake City is good, but one of these 4A teams might just be better. Too bad we will never know.

I used to live in Wyoming. Over there, only the biggest schools play 5A football. But during basketball, they expand the pool of teams to make things more competitive. So some schools play 4A in football and 5A in basketball. I'm not sure that's a good idea for Idaho, but I've said for awhile that the enrollment numbers used for each classification need to be adjusted. Thoughts?
