I think this is ridiculous for sure! We have all played for bad coaches in our careers and we had to deal with that until the admin handled it. Having the players walk out at the end of a season is unacceptable for sure. Finish out your season and deal with this issue in the off season. My current school I am affiliated with has had a horrible coach for a few years now and we are going through the chain of command to deal with the issue correctly. Don’t quit with a couple weeks left in the season.
If they really do not end up playing another game this season, those seniors are going to really regret missing out on their last few high school basketball games ever.
I think it's completely ridiculous. You couldn't ask for worse timing, and this is not the way to go about this. I haven't been to any Highland games this year, but I have spent a little bit of time with Coach Pearson, and he is a stellar guy. Quitting on your program and coach in the 2nd week of February is shameful. I hope the AD doesn't cave, give the JV players minutes if the varsity guys are trying to pull this stunt.
You hope the AD doesn't cave? I have watched this is SE Idaho for years. I dont know the coach or much about basketball. Tell me a job you could perform like this and still keep it.. 25-88 since 2018, 6-23 in conference play! This is how we do it in SE Idaho and have for the 15 years I have been pay attention. We just let programs go down in flames until a group of parents completely lose their ****... Sucks for it to be this way and sucks for anyone left on their schedule, sucks for the fan base.. PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT who is responsible for that?
I just can’t wrap my head around the timing. Seems like they thought they could pressure administration to cave under the pressure of next week’s district tournament. Bad look for Highland for sure.
Not a good look at Highland. This has been simmering under the surface for awhile. As someone who's seen Highland play quite a bit, I think the system that Coach Pearson wants to run is too complex. A lot of times it's paralysis by analysis, and the players end up thinking too much. You have to tailor your system to the players you have, and it just hasn't happened.
That said, those Highland players should be ashamed. You don't quit while the season is still going. If there were concerns, they needed to be brought up in the off-season. Now, maybe those concerns were brought up and ignored. In that case, maybe the players have a leg to stand on. Any Highland parents or fans out there that can clarify for us?

As of now tonight’s varsity game is off so I assume it’s a forfeit. No sure about Friday or district tournament.

Some real exemplary parenting up there on the hill.
How about the parents supporting the coach and the program?
