Pa announcing

I was asked to do pa for football a few years ago. Things have came up were you get there just before game. stuck in concessions after visiting before game so rushing to press box and gasping for air. Remember name of opponent hard to pronounce. Fun to do.

After doing it for football people asked me to do it for basketball and I obliged. Fun to do. Had runny nose one game so after timeout had to rush to restroom blow nose, wash hands and rush back to court side. Put head up to avoid mic mess. If younmispronounce names visiting fans behind you correct you. Had Coach do as well.

Since Covid started I only read starters haven’t even dobe that let ad do it and don’t have pa announcer Court sid at our gym. Of course can’t do commentary on game. Get excited when both teams make a three or big play.

i‘ve seen some say things while team is dribbling to half court. When game in progress barring emergency aren’t supposed to say anything. Maybe who scored while team starts their possession. At free throw line if player has ball wait until shot if you don’t get name before given ball.

Can be enthusiastic at halftime hoop and goodies shoot. Commentary there. I’ve announced starting lineup, players checking in, who scored, at free throw line, who the foul is on. Number of his fouls and team fouls to number ten. Violations and team who committed them. Who gets possession on jump balls and out of bounds. Ask for administrator if someone gets kicked out.

what pa announcer can do. Whoever NFHs guidelines say to only announce points and fouls or who comes in if strictly followed. Some states have more liberal guidelines. I don’t think too many people follow that strictly. Are guidelines for pa announcing. Some 1a schools have them still in there gyms.
