As of right now, they officially don't officially have a new coach as Fitch is still formally employed by the District and no statement of resignation has been made by him. If he does step down, I would imagine long time assistant Troy O'Dell would fill in as interim.
Anyone on the inside know what's going?
Mark Van Weerdhuizen is the interim varsity head coach. He was an assistant for Fruitland last year and previously coached at New Plymouth.
Honestly, if he is not stepping down or resigning by now, I have a feeling that he did nothing wrong and that there was a bogus complaint by a parent or student and because we live in a world where they have to take every little thing a student or parent say so seriously, we are in this situation. I hope this is all it is. I could be wrong but this seems to be a trend sweeping the nation.
I sincerely wish it was a simple case of a disgruntled parent or student. From what I've been able to gather, 30 current and former female students have come forward and accused him of having sexual relations with them in exchange for better grades. Most, if not all of them would have been or are still underage when the events allegedly transpired. If what is being said is in fact true, he won't just be worrying about trying to find a new job, he will be looking at spending the rest of his life in prison.
@grizz200 Yea that's no good.... And 30 is a big number. This won't be going away. He will most likely have to resign even if innocent.
This article has some details of the charges brought against him. Seems to be more than a "parent issue".
