That is completely accurate the 3A is weak when compared to 2A. I would put my money on Declo, West Side, Grangeville, and North Freemont any day against Fruitland, Homedale, Sugar, and Kimberly/ Gooding.
I think "dominated" is a bit strong. Some of these matchups have been very close games.games. I would say they are more close to equals than one dominating the other.
Strong 2A's have always been right there with good 3A's. Same with strong 3A's being better than most 4A's. I see a big difference between the top and bottom teams in 2A, 3A, and 4A. Pretty good and real bad.
I completely agree. It honestly comes down to platooning. If your a 4A or 3A team that can platoon, your going to stand out from the rest. The good 2A teams may not be able to platoon but so does most of 3A. I consider the difference between 3A and 2A alot smaller then the difference between 5A and 4A. 5A schools are always dual platooning and most of 4A is too. Only the top 2 or 3, 3A schools can dual platoon and its different every year. So for the most part, the skilled kids in both 3A and 2A are going to be going both ways.
I have to stand up for the 1A's right here. True this year they may be down a little across the board but I will always consider 8 man by far more entertaining to watch. The big plays are more common and there is just a feel that the game is never out of reach.
I cannot disagree more 8 man football is probably at its peak right now, the Snake River conference is as solid top-to-bottom as it has ever been and for it being irrelevant maybe you should go to a few 8 man games, the crowds will probably rival or beat many of the larger 3acrowds. There is some very good football played and I would argue that it is not a track meet the team that can tackle best in the open field or the team that is most physical usually wins the same as 11 man you might go talk to Salmon River and ask them if 8 man football is irrelevant? Maybe go to a declo game and see if Keegan running 90 yards untouched down the sideline is just considered a track meet or smash mouth 11 man football. Declo probably puts up more yards and points than most eight-man teams do I have watched declo play I watched Oakley play Ive watched Valley play you might call it a irrelevant trackmeet but I call it good athletes out there making plays.
8 man is far from irrelevant. Alot of great athletes come out of 8 man. But you cant really compare 8 man to 11 man football. They are played very differently, almost like two different sports.
I agree with most of what you said Footballmad with the exception of your assessment of the snake river conference. Valley looks solid as well as challis but with Oakley's injuries I would say them grace Butte Glenns ferry and raft river were all better the last few years than they are this
Funny

1A is just irrelevant

Bigfoot 8 man football is a glorified track meet. That is why there are big plays. The field is too spread out and the fastest team wins
Exactly why it's fun to watch

1a takes one decent athlete to
I don't think it really matters. Football is football no matter the conference or division.
