Cool nights, leaves are changing color, fall is in full swing, and that can mean only one thing: the playoffs are here!
Kimberly vs Teton- Kimberly has been rock solid all year. They have a balanced and explosive offense, with a hardnosed tailback, a quarterback with a cannon for an arm, and a flock of speedy receivers. They beat a very talented Gooding team and if not for a few turnovers, it might have been a rout. Teton meanwhile has not had so much success this year and has been outscored 102-19 the past two games. Kimberly wins with ease, 48-7.
Fruitland vs Kellogg- It has been a very interesting year for Fruitland. Normally accustomed to blowing out teams, Fruitland has found themselves on the receiving end a few teams. However, Fruitland is Fruitland, and you can't cout them out until they're out. They've struggled at times to find an identity offensively, but they seem to function the best when they take a balanced approach with a lot of rpo. Kellogg has not exactly been impressive this year, but they enter coming off a win, which helps a bit. Nevertheless, Fruitland hasn't lost at home, and Kellogg isn't changing that. 46-7 Fruitland
South Fremont vs Weiser- Both teams have matching records, and I think matchup quite well. After missing the playoffs, South Fremont is back. Weiser meanwhile is much improved from recent past with new coach Tom Harrison rejuvinating the Wolverines. With the game in the dome, I will give a slight edge to South as they win a close 22-17 contest.
Gooding vs American Falls- As has become SOP for Gooding they put points on the board with an uncanny ease, using a fast-paced attack led by a pinball wizard. American Falls meanwhile has given up points in bunches, and they just got the snot beaten out of them by Marsh Valley. Gooding 47-12.
Sugar Salem vs Marsh Valley- We'll have to wait for this one, but this one has the makings of a classic, knock-down fight at least on paper Both have big offensive lines with physical running games that can wear an opponent down. Both also give up less than 10 points a game. That being said, Sugar has an advantage in the passing game, and is overall a bit deeper. Sugar with a 25-14 win
Timberlake vs TBD- Normality was returned in the north. Timberlake has been decent this year, which is good enough in the underwhelming IML. They won't be challenging for a state title.
Homedale vs TBD (Gooding)- Top ranked Homedale has more or less mown over everyone in their path. A scrappy Weiser team gave them a fairly good fight though. On paper, Homedale is the favorite to advance out of the bottom bracket, but they have a dangerous Gooding team looming in the future.
