1. Blackfoot. Unbeaten in conference
2. Skyline. Not as good as they have been the last few years, not to be taken lightly though.
3. Hillcrest. Struggling but able to get wins against Shelley and Bonneville.
4. Idaho Falls. Young team that hasn't been able to find itself. Quarterback was taken out from a bad hit in the Emotion Bowl. The team is relying heavily on Spencer Moore who has taken Taggert Miller's place.
5. Bonneville. Yet to pick up a conference win and struggling to pick up any at this point. All their losses except for one have been real close.
6. Shelley. Boy what's going on in Russet country right now? Tough luck for the spuds. No conference wins at all.
I am guessing this is how it will finish. I think Skyline will handle Hillcrest easily, and I see Hillcrest eeking out win over IF.
Well, so much for Hillcrest eeking out a win. They just kicked the **** out of us tonight. I guess I.F. forgot how to football. What an ugly loss to end the season.
I watched the junior varsity game last night and it was much more impressive with two teams that fought to the end. Unfortunately, Hillcrest was just too physical for a very small I.F. squad. Hillcrest's defense was interesting because I have never seen a team use that style of D before. I think Hillcrest has a bunch of talented athletes going through right now.
I see things playing out this way as well. Anyone know how district 4-5 A-F are determined for playoff seeding. I see that they have split into two pods but how are the top 6 of the 10 determined?

RAV - I would not disagree with any of those picks.... However, to me 4A in the East looks down this year (I hope I am wrong), If I were guessing probably another BK championship???
I don't think you can say the east is down this year yet. I thought the same thing last year until Hillcrest thumped BK and gave the East it's third straight title. Until another region wins a title, it's the East's to lose. In fact in the last 15 years, it's either been Blackfoot(4), Hillcrest(2), Skyline(2),or Pocatello(1), or BK(6).
XPLAYA - I hope that your are right!!!
But I really have my eye on 5A
There really seems to be no clear leader in the 4A ranks right now. It could be very wide open this year as far as playoffs go.
boys its all about numbers and i dont mean score board numbers .. its about enrollment numbers , recruiting by private schools and petitioning down for larger schools ,, seems to be the norm on the west side and the east side has caught on pretty well also ,, just check out the polls
How did Nampa do last year.... Now they are 4A for the Foreseeable future... How about this year? Oh Yea can someone remind me of their numbers?
Kuna thumped BK. they maybe the team to beat....
Right now they ARE the team to beat. They play Emmett this week and Caldwell next week. They will finish the season undefeated and have home field in the playoffs.
I would agree that until someone from the West knocks off the the top teams from the East, they still have bragging rights. I'm a "homer", but I do think Middleton is being overlooked in the rankings. They lost at Kuna on a dropped pass in the end zone at the end of the game, and lost at BK with 35 seconds left. They could make some noise come playoff time!
And long as they can beat Vaillivue
Playoff games are won by the teams that are 1. Healthy 2. Firing on all cylinders. I got to see Middleton beat Nampa last Friday and they looked very good. So did Nampa. Both teams had some knuckle-headed penalties, but nothing that can't be cleaned up over the next couple of weeks. Kuna looked a little shaky in their game against Thunder Ridge, but picked it up against Vallivue and then took it to BK last Friday night. Did they peak too soon? We'll see. Blackfoot is another team that I think a lot of people have been sleeping on. It's good to see them back in the conversation after some down years.
@Paul Kingsbury You are dead on. Being healthy is HUGE! Blackfoot really struggled in their 3 games against Thunder, Bonneville, and Star Valley without their QB. It is difficult to gauge the East -West, with only two common Opponents (Thunder and Columbia). I am really excited for some of the potential playoff matchups.
That was a very impressive win by Kuna. I would put Middelton at 2 and pretty even with BK, Nampa, and Vallivue. Tough Conference. Hillcrest is definitely down from last year, but I think Skyline is gonna surprise some people in the play-offs.
The outcome of the Middleton vs Vallivue football game will be interesting. The winner of that game will have to travel to Skyline (which will be a very tough game), and if they happen to win that one will then most likely have to play at Kuna. Meanwhile, the loser will travel up north to probably play at Moscow (which they should win) and then will have a home game against 4-5B/6C winner. And if they win that one, have another home game. The 3D seed put Middleton and Vallivue in the state semifinals the past two years.
Yeah, I would say that the loser of Middleton-Vallivue has a much better road in the play-offs. Skyline will also have their work cut out for them.
What is the outlook for the 4-5 conference in terms of seeding?
I am thinking it will be Century, Minico, Jerome, Poky, Preston
It's about time the 4A goes to seeding for the playoffs as well. The SIC #4 seed (Middleton) looks to be in a better spot than the #1 seed (Kuna).
I don't dislike the seeding for playoffs argument, but I would have to disagree that Middleton drew an easier opponent (Moscow) than Kuna's (Pocatello). Tho district 1-2 in 4A has been weaker the last few years, Moscow is a better team than Pocatello. Max Preps (which tends to be more accurate this late in the year) has Moscow at a strength rating of 8.3 and Pocatello at 2.1. Also the Blackfoot's draw might have its work cut out for it depending on which jekyll and hyde Sandpoint team shows up.
You don't believe the IdahoSports power rankings...lol? I don't disagree with your assessment, but I'm thinking beyond the first round as well (if both Middleton and Kuna were to win). Middleton would return for a home game against the Hillcrest-Jerome winner, while Kuna would play the Skyline-Vallivue winner. Seems like an easier matchup for Middleton. And....if they were both to win those games, Kuna would actually have to travel to Middleton for the semi-final.
@idterps I thought that there was a phrase in the bracket that says if the two teams are from the same region the higher seed hosts?
@Summertime_fan You’re right! Higher seeded team from same conference hosts.
Been long time since I posted on boards. Looks like Kuna is team to beat. Great to see Blackfoot back in the thick of things. Football's are not round and take funny bounces. Winning Championship is not an easy task. Season begins this week none of the rankings really matter now. Just win baby.... And advance
