There are a couple of games that I see to be really close and could go either way. #4 Capital vs #5 Borah - I would like to see some SIC folks comment on this one, because I see it as very close. I would have to believe that Capital would be slight favorites, but past that??? Borah surprised me a little with playing Rocky Mountain tough.
Skyview at Post Falls - The trip to Post Falls is long. Defenses play better at home, all of these would favor Post Falls - However, Skyview's offense maybe too much. I will look to the Road team in this one.
Meridian at Madison - I look to Madison to correct last week's mistakes and take care of business at home. There reward will be a trip to #1 ranked Rocky.
And Finally - Lewiston at Eagle - Eagle should be large favorites, especially at home. A versatile QB and playing at home - I will take Eagle. Enjoy the games!
If Borah wasn’t so banged up I might take them to win this game, they shocked everyone with how tough they played Rocky. Borah truly had them on the ropes. I believe they held Romano to his lowest yardage of the season? I’m gonna go with Capital to win this game, due to their experiences in the playoffs, and I think they have the better defense at the moment. It’s a true neutral site game at DLP. I’ll take Capital by 7-10, but this is the least confidence I have of all the 5A games.
I would love to see Skyview go up to Post Falls and win but, it’s just not gonna happen. Long trip up North. I also believe Post Falls is a much better team than their record shows and believe they could make some noise in the tourney.
Madison should win pretty comfortably. Meridian does have some really good athletes and can be very explosive at times on offense. Going to Madison is never an easy trip. I believe Madison just has the better team and athletes.
Eagle wins by 17-21. Ben Ford has become one of my favorite players to watch in the state. Eagle is playing their best ball of the year, that plus the long trip to the Treasure Valley equals a tough night for Lewiston
Capital, Skyview, Madison before they go get rocked by Rocky, and Eagle.
I'd have a tough time going with Borah after Capital completely shut them down previously but the offense they are running now out of necessity I think will make it a more competitive game with less 3 and outs; and less of Capitals offense on the field. I'll go with Capital but thinking it will be close
I've watched a bit of Post Falls now and think this is going to be a Skyview win. I'm really impressed with their mental and physical toughness and think Post Falls just isn't going to be ready for a game like this. Skyview has given up a ton of points and am not sure if they have the secondary to deal with any deep run but it doesn't look to me like Post Falls can take advantage of that weakness.
Eagle all over Lewiston
The Meridian/Madison game is going to be interesting. Meridian offensively is starting to run that veer very efficiently....it's what they have done for years but have better athletes to run it this year. I don't know how Madison is going to game plan it but typically you'd have the line just maintain their alley and go after the back and linebackers fill the gap for the QB. Mtn. View had a tough time with the gap due in part to one healthy starting LB in the game and looks to me like Madison is currently better in that department and will slow them down. Now, Meridians defense is pretty shaky but from what I've seen I don't think Madisons offense is that good. I'm going to call this a close one for Madison and mainly due to home field.
