Declo vs St. Maries. Out of all the games, I think this one has the greatest potential of being an upset. Not saying that its going to happen, but all the others seem to be blowouts again.
West Side could get upset, i just don't see it happening, with any of the games. The semis will be some great football.
Where will the semi's be played assuming the the top 4 undefeated teams all win?
It is seeded, so top of bracket will host. If St. Maries beat Declo, St. Maries would host (take the spot of the #1 Seed). If all seeded team win, it would be Declo Hosting West Side, Grangeville hosting NF.
Higher RPI hosts not top of bracket. So if St. Maries were to beat Declo West Side would host St. Maries.
Yes, If West Side wins and St.Maries beat Declo, then West Side would travel to St. Maries.
You guys are saying two different things.. I think West Side would host if St. Maries beat Declo.
Here is the next topic of discussion. Should the Semi finals be played at a neutral site? I believe they should. Im looking at #3 North traveling 8 hours to go play #2 Grangeville and don't really see that being fair. West Side and Declo is not to far of travel, but still think that game should be played at a neutral site as well. At this point in the playoffs, I think the 4 teams that make it to the semi's deserve to play at a neutral site.
What do you guys think?
In 2016, St. Maries had to travel down to the Holt Arena for their semi final match up with Bear Lake, they won only to travel all the way back home to come back the following week and play Declo in the State championship, again at Holt Arena.
My point is, that this is the meaning of home field advantage at state and if your meant to be and are good enough, you will face the challenge like the Lumberjacks did and take home the championship regardless of where they played.
So yes, it is fair that North Fremont must travel to Grangeville or the Kibbie Dome for their match up. If they do not want to travel, they have the right to forfeit.
To clarify, if St. Maries beats Declo it will not matter who wins between West Side/McCall-Donnelly because St. Maries will host in the next round as they assume Declo's position on the bracket. The way that it is currently set up only seeds the first round but then the bracket operates as normal through the rest of the tournament. This was a point of discussion when this bracket was proposed and it would not surprise me if it is brought up again at the fall scheduling meeting.
Also - do they do the thing where if a team didn’t travel last week and their opponent did travel the previous week, then the team that traveled would host, regardless of position on bracket?
Hurricane the way that looks to me is that it would matter because they go off of RPI not bracket placement
@DugoutJinx They are not enforcing the quarterfinal 'travel rule' this year, despite what it says in the online tournament manual. No classifications voted to use it.
It says on the bracket that higher seed will host. Is that not right? If it is then I would think whoever is higher seed in the RPI will host the next round.
