I just watched the Fruitland and Shelley games. Wow??
Neither looked anything like the teams of a few years ago that were so dominant.
I realize that all programs go through ups and downs, but both looked like a culture change has occurred.
I have sensed that Shelley has been sliding as they are no longer the BIG dog at the top of the enrollment of 3A and now that they don't enjoy that, maybe some are not turning out for football. They just looked smaller; both size and numbers than when they were rolling smaller schools. Sugar, a 3A school, soundly beat them.
Fruitland, just looked small and not nearly as physical or athletic as those teams of the past. What's happened? From having about a ten year, or more, run of turning out big, physical, talented teams, to a slow decline to mediocrity?
Homedale, Sugar, and Gooding appear to be heads above the old powers.
