    Idaho players heading to college

What high school seniors do we have this year that are planning on playing at the next level? It seems that we have a lot of kids going to smaller schools as well as some playing division 1 football every year. I would love to know who we have going where so I can continue to watch and support our Idaho boys.

Shane Jennings committed to Eastern Washington. Was looking at Stanford and Utah State. He would be crushed at both schools. Said he hoped to play in the pros. Many people have that dream but few achieve it. He will redshirt at Eastern Washington next year. I don,t know how much playing time he will get.

His brother Ruger redshirted at Idaho State but is no longer on the team. They commuted to Gooding starting Rugers Freshman year because they had a better football program. Felt could be seen by recruiters better over there.

Gooding has a few people that are playing at the college level. I am not sure of many other people. Will find out this winter as signings come. College of Idaho, U of I, BSU and ISU have a few local people to cheer for.

Nice if intercollegiate athletics came back to Ricks and maybe football added at NNU, NIC and CSI. doubt that will happen though.

My 1st and 2nd Year @ Newport, WA, our QB had the same dream as Jennings to go pro, walked on at Eastern Washington and eventually made it Pro. Dreams happen, let the kids dream.

Jason Buck had that same dream. Farm in Michigan that employed his Father went under and they moved to the Idaho Oregon border living under hay truck until they could get scrap lumber from railroad depot. dug out of dumpsters for clothes.

Adrian went to eight man while he was in High School. Family life tough as well. Moved in with his sister in St. Anthony probably for more stability. Adrian would not let him play first two games filed complaint about him going there. He played qb there.

Didn,t know there was such a thing as Pell Grants which he easily could of qualified for. Worked all day at some warehouse then lifted weights two or three hours a day at Ricks College.

Ron Haun was defensive coach at Ricks told him they could not give him scholarship as qb but could be on defensive line. Confidence there and he got scholarship. Went to BYU and starred and did play Several years in the pros. Had some adversity there.

Even while trying to make team at Ricks had brother killed in auto accident and parents divorced. byutv has a story of life if you look it up on youtube. He told everyone he was going to play Proffesional football and he did.

However in reality most people do not have the talent for that opportunity. How many of Kory Halls, Matt Paradis,s or Leighton Vandereschs, teammates or people he played against made it to the pro,s?

College football does take a lot of time commitment too. Ten years from now besides the family and friends and individuals of the players who will remember who played for Eastern Oregon, College of Idaho, even most players that played for BSU U of I and ISU?

IF you can get scholarship paid for good way to pay for education, But there are only so many slots open. After the first year many people may not want to make the commitment, no social life and don,t have skills. would rather do other stuff.

Long Pin has had several kids play in college. AT least small schools. For schools that size a good representation. Besides there are several differences between 8 and 11 man football I am sure. Sawtooth besides Lighthouse don,t know of too many other people recently that played College football.

Garrett Astle may have gave thought to going to Eastern Oregon. He had some concussions and knee injuries in High School so never played. Was good in High school could run. I don,t know if Carey had anyone go to Southern Virginia to play football. Nate Adams played a year before his mission bball there. Trey dill is playin bball there too.

Magic Valley not sure how many other people are playing college ball. Some of the MgGinnish I misspelled that after there missions went to Weber State. A few people will go on missions then play somewhere. Great to follow local kids still. With the internet if you convert it to tv can watch many of the kids on the screen.

Sugar has a few. I believe last week browning bennion and Riley Thurber went on a visit to carrol college. Brayton Pope went a few weeks ago to Montana western (where his brother plays). keyean nead looks like he could play d1 with isu or bigger, also looked at by rocky mountain I believe. Sam Parkinson, tanner Harris, and Kenneth Copley all could play next level too, just not sure about who has looked at them and what they think for college.

Togia from Rigby has multiple offers from power 5 schools. Undecided as of yet but basically has his pick of major programs.

Wonder if he has an attitude like his cousin from Highland or is a solid dude both mentally and physically.

Curious which cousin you are talking about? TJ at ISU or Tommy at Ohio State. Tommy was an excellent kid and am extremely hard worker. And his older brother TJ was was a great kid as well just much less motivated.

Post Falls QB Derek Pearse just committed this weekend to NAIA Montana Tech. Good fit...he's a 1400 SAT kid who is going to study Mechanical and Petroleum Engineering.

Glad to see Keegan Duncan transferring out of Boise to Utah State and making transition to defense.
