Conference play starts this week.
Homedale vs Fruitland- IMO this is the game of the week in 3A. Homedale finds themselves in the position of being the only undefeated team left in 3A. Homedale is scoring an average of 55 points per game, but they've done it against rather inferior competition. Fruitland meanwhile opened up with wins over South Fremont and Gooding. Then things didn't exactly go their way against a big and athletic Middleton team, which I feel has the potential to make a deep playoff run in 4A. After years of ground and pound, Fruitland has discovered the new-fangled concept of the forward pass. So far, Cole Eiguren has completed 49-80 passes for 853 yards and 8 touchdowns against 1 interception. They had some hiccups against Middleton (timing and dropped passes), but overall it's been very impressive. As long as Fruitland can put the Middleton game behind them, I think this is a winnable game for them. Fruitland 30-22.
Parma vs Weiser- In the race to the bottom between Parma and Payette, that contest is currently being "won" by Parma. They've been blownout 4 weeks in a row, including giving up 61 points to Melba... Weiser on the other hand is 3-1, and while they haven't blown out anyone, they are much improved from the last few years. Weiser might not be in the upper crust of 3A yet, but there's a big difference between them and Parma. Weiser 44-6.
Gooding vs Weiser- Gooding really needs to have a heart to heart. Against a struggling Snake River team, it took them a half to get off the bus. Payette has taken their lumps, but they have improved the last 2 weeks. Even so, non-chalant Gooding is vastly superior to Payette, and will win by as much as they want. Gooding 61-0.
