It's almost impossible to correctly seed a tournament using only computers. What if a really good wrestler has been injured and has a season record of 8 - 2, while another person at the weight (who is not as good) is 30 - 3? Coaches will usually know the wrestlers and, most of the time, try to get the correct seeding for the tournament. There will always be coaches who just worry about getting favorable match ups for their guys. I think using a mix of the two (computers and coaches) is the fairest way to seed people. But there does need to be integrity. As coaches, we should always try our best to put everyone in the proper seeds.
Seeding isn't just to benefit the best wrestler. We seed tournaments so all of the wrestlers can have the best match ups possible. If the wrestler that everyone knows is the best doesn't get the proper seed, then he might wrestle the 2nd best wrestler in the first round. Then by the time the finals are wrestled you might end up with a very lopsided match up. This might happen anyway, but proper seeding makes this less likely.

It is not impossible and would be completely impartial. It won't matter if the 8-2 guy doesn't get the number one seed if he is actually the best.
